Kerri O'Brien focuses her practice on the defense of insurance carrier clients, where claims and suits are brought against them in coverage issues and alleged bad faith actions. Many of these coverage disputes are derived from claims involving windstorms, fire, mold, and water losses. She works with clients in all aspects of coverage disputes, which may include responding to civil remedy notices of insurer violations, conducting pre-suit investigations, writing coverage evaluations, filing of declaratory judgments and defending bad faith litigation in first party coverage matters.

While Kerri concentrates a large portion of her practice to first party property claims, she spent many years of her career in the defense of non-medical professionals in claims made and suits brought against lawyers, accountants, architects, engineers and real estate professionals.  Additionally, she handled complex commerical litigation cases, and she has represented corporations and governmental entities in matters, including insurance insolvency and business torts.  Kerri began her career representing defendants in all areas of general liability and bodily injury litigation, with an emphasis on negligent security, premises liability, motor vehicle negligence, products liability and wrongful death.  Kerri's clients are diverse, and she has handled a wide array of professional liability, commerical and casualty cases in federal and state courts.

In 2004, Kerri graduated from the University of Florida in Gaineville, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees.  She then attended Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2007.

While attending law school, Kerri served as Articles Editor for the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law.  Prior to being admitted to the bar, she received a Florida Bar Foundation Public Service Fellowship and did pro bono work for the Guardian Ad Litem Program, Legal Aid Service of Broward County and AIDS Project Florida.
