John Tolley graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science and double major in Legal Studies and Criminal Justice.  He then graduated in the top third of his class from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center where he earned his Juris Doctorate.

While in law school, Mr. Tolley was an active member of the Nova Trial Association and the Moot Court Society.  In addition to serving on the executive board of the Nova Trial Association, he represented Nova Southeastern University in several trial advocacy and moot court competitions nationwide.  Mr. Tolley was later inducted into the National Order of the Barrister for excellence in trial advocacy.

Prior to joining Rubinton & Associates, Mr. Tolley worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Florida.  During his time as an Assistant State Attorney, he prosecuted thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases and tried over 30 jury trials. Prior to leaving the State Attorney's Office Mr. Tolley obtained the rank of a special unit prosecutor handling and trying violent first degree felonies including attempted murders. 

As a member of the Broward County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section and former Executive Council member of the Broward County Criminal Law Section, Mr. Tolley is also involved in the legal community.  Since 2015, Mr. Tolley has served as a head coach for Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad School of Law’s mock trial program.
